K-9 Units

SSNW started Washington State’s first ever private K-9 police response program for the Washington State Department of Corrections. CAT can provide bomb detection K-9s for added protection in a total security package.

Members of the Counter Assault Team (CAT) have trained at a K-9 bomb handler school. The dogs work with their handler to identify up to 15 different odors for bomb detection purposes.

Several CAT members have served as K-9 handlers for DoD and law enforcement and upon completion of training are designated as SSNW explosives detection specialists serving on a K-9 unit for work within the CAT. Pure bred German Shepherd dogs, flown in from Europe, are paired with CAT members for the special explosives detection training programs. This training is complementary to other SSNW security programs for force protection work with the U.S. Government and with private companies. Joseph N. D’Amico, President and CEO of SSNW states, “SSNW continues to provide the very best in security to our clients in both the government and private sectors.”
